Set off on a scenic drive to Kidepo Valley National Park, one of Africa’s last untouched wilderness areas and Uganda’s most remote safari gem. Nestled in the rugged landscapes of northeastern Uganda, Kidepo is renowned for its vast golden plains, dramatic mountain backdrops, and incredible sense of isolation. As you travel through the changing scenery. From rolling farmlands to the dry, open savannah, you’ll feel the excitement build for the adventure ahead.

Upon arrival, settle into your lodge and soak in the sweeping views of this wildlife haven before embarking on an evening game drive. Unlike any other park in Uganda, Kidepo is home to cheetahs, the fastest land animals, often seen sprinting across the open plains in pursuit of prey. You may also spot the striking ostrich, the world’s largest bird, which thrives in the park’s semi-arid environment. As the golden light of sunset washes over the savannah, keep an eye out for lions perched on rocky outcrops and herds of zebras and antelopes grazing peacefully. The untamed beauty of Kidepo, combined with its rare wildlife sightings, makes it one of the most extraordinary safari destinations in the Pearl of Africa.

Day 8:
Full-day game drive in Kidepo National Park
Lion family in Kidepo National Park

Immerse yourself in the untamed wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park, a place where Africa’s raw beauty unfolds before your eyes. Spend the day on thrilling game drives, venturing through the park’s diverse landscapes. Keep an eye out for majestic lions, often found resting on rocky outcrops, scanning their territory for prey.

Drive through the Narus Valley, whose name means muddy area in the local Karamojong language, a fitting description for this life-giving region that retains water even in the dry season. As one of the park’s best wildlife viewing areas, it attracts large herds of buffaloes, zebras, and antelopes, gathering around the remaining water sources.

Along the way, you might also catch a glimpse of the rare ostrich, a unique sight in Uganda’s national parks. Whether you’re capturing stunning photographs or simply soaking in the breathtaking scenery, every moment in Kidepo is a reminder of why this park is considered one of Africa’s hidden gems.

Day 9:
Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Safari car in the Ugandan savannah

Journey south to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most iconic protected area, where the Nile River dramatically forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging into the depths below. As you travel, admire the ever-changing landscapes, from the arid savannahs of northern Uganda to the lush, tropical forests that signal your approach to the park.

Along the way, you may pass through small villages bustling with local markets, offering a glimpse into daily life in rural Uganda. Keep your eyes open for wildlife sightings even before entering the park, as the surrounding areas are home to antelopes, baboons, and even the occasional elephant.

Upon arrival, settle into your lodge and soak in the serene atmosphere, surrounded by the sounds of nature. As the sun sets over the savannah, enjoy a quiet evening preparing for tomorrow’s wild adventure, where you’ll experience game drives, boat safaris, and breathtaking encounters with Africa’s most iconic wildlife.

Day 10:
Game drive, hike to the top of the falls & boat safari
View of the 2 falls of Murchison Falls National Park

Start your day with an early morning game drive, the best time to spot predators on the prowl. Keep an eye out for lions, leopards, and hyenas, as well as elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes roaming the golden savannah.

Later, embark on a hike to the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow 7-meter gorge, crashing down with immense force. The views from the top are breathtaking.

In the afternoon, set sail on a boat safari toward the base of the falls, gliding past hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife. As you approach the thunderous falls from below, feel the mist on your skin and take in one of Uganda’s most spectacular sights before returning to your lodge at sunset.

In the afternoon, set off on a Nile River cruise to the Lake Albert Delta, a haven for bird lovers. This lush wetland is home to an incredible variety of birds in Africa, including the elusive shoebill stork, African fish eagle, Goliath heron, and saddle-billed stork. Glide along the tranquil waters, passing pods of hippos and sunbathing crocodiles, as you take in the peaceful beauty of this unique ecosystem.

Day 12:

Step into the ancient Budongo Forest, a sanctuary teeming with life and one of Uganda’s largest and most important rainforests, for an unforgettable chimpanzee encounter. Led by expert trackers, venture through the towering mahogany and ironwood trees, their dense canopy providing a home to not only chimpanzees but also a diverse array of wildlife. As you journey deeper into the forest, listen for the distant calls of chimps, their voices echoing through the canopy as they communicate with one another.

As you follow the chimps’ movements, observe these intelligent primates in their natural habitat, foraging for food, playing, and interacting with family members. These incredible creatures are a reminder of our shared evolutionary history, and this experience offers a rare opportunity to witness their behavior up close.

Along the way, discover the diverse birdlife, over 300 species of birds, including vibrant hornbills and rare forest species that inhabit the forest. Keep an eye out for other wildlife that call this rainforest home, such as monkeys, reptiles, and even forest elephants, though sightings are rarer.

This immersive experience not only brings you face-to-face with one of our closest relatives but also highlights vital conservation efforts being carried out to protect these endangered primates. The Budongo Forest is part of important chimpanzee conservation programs aimed at ensuring their survival, and your visit contributes to these efforts, supporting local communities and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Watching these giants roam freely in their protected reserve is a humbling and exhilarating experience.

After your trek, embark on the journey back to Entebbe, passing through Uganda’s scenic countryside. Upon arrival, unwind by the shores of Lake Victoria, where you can soak in the tranquil views and reflect on the incredible adventures of your Uganda safari trip before your final day of exploration.

Day 14:

As you navigate this pristine wetland, scan the horizon for the elusive shoebill stork, a prehistoric-looking bird and one of the most sought-after birds in Africa. Alongside the shoebill, keep an eye out for kingfishers darting over the water, elegant herons wading through the reeds, and African jacanas skillfully walking across lily pads.
